Provide a premier equestrian experience for the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois
Girls and horses seem to be two words that consistently can be heard together and it’s not hard to see why. Even though it might not be every little girl’s dream to own a pony, there is just something about horses that draws a girl’s interest. Compassion, responsibility, leadership, confidence, accountability, and teamwork are just some of the many life skills that horses instill in those that they encounter. Skills that are beneficial and prepares girls to become future leaders.
At Girl Scouts of Central Illinois, we offer various types of programs from seasonal weekend events such as introductory programs to horses, badge work, and family trail rides to resident equestrian summer camp. Our programs are designed for girls of all ages. Our equestrian herd currently consists of over 30 members ranging from horses to miniature donkeys, and even a mule! Approximately $3,000 is spent per year on care for each horse. Your donation will provide essential funding needed to care for these incredible animals along with the ongoing costs that are associated with operating an equestrian program (hay/grain; dental and farrier care; helmets and boots; and tack and grooming supplies; stable maintenance are among some costs).
Adoption Levels:
*An additional donation of $5 per girl is requested for troops over 15 girls. Additional Barn Patches can be ordered for $5 each.
